Randy Corman served twenty-eight years on Renton City Council, from 1994 2021. During his tenure, he has chaired every council committee multiple times. He served as council president for six years, council president pro-tem another six years, and represented Renton in many regional forums.  He worked with five Renton mayors while on Council.

Randy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California at Davis.  From 1984 to 2017 he was an airplane design engineer, engineering manager, and safety and certification manager for the Boeing Company, including manager in charge of the successful government approval of the Boeing 757-300.  He was also the safety and certification manager who obtained the first government approval for passenger Wi-Fi on-board commercial airliners (in US, Europe, and Asia), and he was Boeing airworthiness manager of several US Air Force and Navy aircraft derived from commercial models.  Randy’s Boeing work has taken him around the world and exposed him to many cultures and political systems.  As a U.S. Patent recipient, Randy  received an Annual Inventor’s Award from The Boeing Company.  He took early retirement from Boeing at age 55 in 2017 after an award-winning 33 year career.

A neighborhood leader, Randy first became involved with city government because of an eminent-domain dispute in his neighborhood.  “After seeing how much impact one person could have, I was inspired to become involved in other city issues,” says Randy. He feels the citizens of Renton hold the answers to our city’s problems, and considers it one of his responsibilities to make sure those voices get heard.  Renton has a great city staff that can bring ideas to fruition as long as the Council is open-minded when the ideas are suggested.  “In my opinion, the more diverse the ideas, the better,” states Randy.

Randy and his wife Cathy live on a hobby farm in the Renton Highlands where they raised five children, and their five grandchildren now come over to play.  Their yard has been a popular destination for preschool field trips through the years.
